Submissions now open.

Ritual. For our first issue, we want to learn what ritual means to you. Cultural traditions passed down generations, yes, but alongside the daily, the banal.

We are accepting submissions of fiction and non-fiction works, poetry, and visual arts. Creative expressions of the impact of a topic as convoluted as ritual can manifest in a plethora of ways— we'd love to see your short stories, personal essays, journalistic investigations, reviews of old magical tomes you found in your grandparent’s house, a knitting pattern you’re obsessed with, and anything in-between.

Writing submissions should be between 500-5,000 words. We accept submissions in, or in a combination of, Indonesian, Indonesian dialects, and English.

We feature work by writers and artists based in Indonesia and abroad. Terurai is a community for all, and especially welcomes submissions from those with backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in arts and literature. All religions, socio-economic backgrounds, races, sexualities, gender identities, disabilities, et cetera welcome. No published writing experience, minimum age, or education level is required to submit.

Follow the links below to their respective Google Forms submission sheets.

Please review our Submission Requirements for detailed guidelines.

Submissions are open until April 30, 2025.
